Ben Krauth | Baseball
Record setting LHP for DVC Baseball (2013-14). 2014 Big 8 Conference Pitcher of the Year. All-State and J.C. Pacific Athletic Division All-American honors. Set all-time lowest E.R.A. records with 0.33 ERA (55 IP / Big 8 Conf.) and 0.52 ERA (103 IP / Overall). Scholarship to and graduated from Kansas University. Sr. year 1st team All Big 12 selection and led conf. in strikeouts. In four collegiate seasons pitched 378 innings with 381 strikeouts. Has pitched professionally with Cleveland Indians organization since 2016.
Franco Harris | Men's Basketball
Great three- point shooting guard for DVC Men’s Basketball (2001-03). Two-time 1st team All Bay Valley Conference selection. 2002-03 1st team All-State & All-American honors. Career scoring average at DVC, 18.5 PPG. Scholarship to & graduated from Boise State University (2003-05). Played over a decade in Mexican Professional League. Pro career game high was 55 points during 2014 season.
Steve Ward | Baseball
Longest tenured DVC baseball coach in school history, 21 years, compiling (468-430-3) record. 1989 team won only Golden Gate Conference title in school history. Teams qualified for the state playoffs 11 times. CCCBCA Hall of Fame inductee in 2002. Athletic Director for 14 yrs. & founded DVC Hall of Fame in 2005. Named State Physical Education Administrator of the Year in 2005. During years as A.D. DVC athletic teams won ten State Team Scholar awards. Teaching, coaching and athletic administration career spanned 33 years (1986-2019).
2016 Women's Soccer Team
Best Women’s Soccer team in school history. Won 1st ever Big 8 Conference title with (9-1-6) record. Nor-Cal champs and finished State runner-up with (18-2-6) record. Coach Cailin Mullins named National JC / Div.3 Coach of the Year. Striker Noelle Lemos named Big 8 Conf. Offensive Player of the Year. Goalie Katie McLaughlin and midfielder Vanessa Ruvalcaba earned All-American honors. McLaughlin also named Div.3 / National JC Player of the Year. Team beat Santa Barbara City College 2-0 in state semi-final before losing a thrilling state title game to Cerritos in extra time.
2005 Football Defense
Number #1 ranked defense in the state in almost every category. 16 scholarships were earned by defensive players. Seven of the eleven teams DVC played scored 9 points or less. Set school records for fewest points allowed in a regular season (60), Sacks (57) and Turnovers (43). In East County Bowl game win over Orange Coast defense scored 23 points in DVC’s 37-34 victory. Defense also set school records for lowest average per rushing attempt (1.3 yds. Per) and against passing attempts (4.4 yds. Per). DL Vontre Mason and DB Castine Bridges earned 1st Team All-State honors. John Morales was named Defensive MVP of the East County Bowl. Castine Bridges led the state in Interceptions. Team finished with (7-4) record. Head Coach was Ralph Depew and top assistants included Mike Darr and Ed Hall.
