Water Polo
Men's Water Polo Team
This Men’s Water Polo team has had an amazing season so far with a 13-6 record. As the season is coming to end, we asked head coach Matthew De Trane on what he is most impressed about this season. “There has been huge improvement as individuals and as a team. Everyone has been committed and grinded all season. Even without our own pool they have been focused on making it to State and we are headed in the right direction with the post season coming up.” Now with the team heading into the Big 8 Conference Championship Game against Modesto Pirates. We asked Coach De Trane on what he thinks about the sophomores and their influence on the team as a whole. “The best way to describe this team is "united". Thanks to our sophomores who have pushed strong team chemistry this team isn't just a team but they are good friends as well.” We want to thank sophomores, Ramin Behrooz, Nathan Lyckflors, Ethan Salerno, Casey Hummond, Ethan Braga, Rex Hrabertin, Justin Dipietro, Andrei Korelov, Devin Guinee, and Beau Cutright for representing the Vikings the last two years. Let's finish this season strong and GO Vikings!
Women’s Water Polo Team
This Woman's Water Polo team has had a great season having a record of 10-9 playing against some of the competition in the State. These girls fought hard all the way to the end. When interviewing Head Coach Zach Roberts, we asked him about the team and he had this to say, “The team has been great so far this year. We returned a great core group of athletes from last season's team and have added a good mix of newcomers who have been able to contribute throughout the season…The team has done an excellent job in improving the way we play together and adapt to one another's tendencies. Sometimes teams can get stagnant, or 'plateau' during a long season, but the Women's team has continued to improve week over week.” They really showed great improvement at the end of the season ending on a 3 game winning streak and won a thriller against Sierra in double overtime. The leadership and hard work shown throughout the season comes from in the locker room and comes from the sophomores. We want to thank the sophomores for all the hard work and commitment these two seasons. Megan Ashabranner, Maddie Basye, Kayla Collins, Millie Hancock, Kiki Henderson, Elizabeth McGrath, Mia Rodiguez, Bella Rossi, and Taylor Siville. Thank you all for a great season. Go Vikings!
