While certainly the outcome was expected, with the 2018 edition Vikings defeating the alumni 21-12, the sharpness of the Vikings in the first half really stood out. During the first quarter, the Vikings were playing fast, crisp lacrosse with great passing, shot selection, transitions and very few unforced turnovers. One player noted, "The emphasis on getting our stick skills together as a team really seemed to pay off. We've been sharp in practice and it extended to this game tonight."
The Vikings scored 12 goals in the first quarter with several of the goals coming after great assists and others coming off of transition. At the half the Vikings extended to a 19-2 lead, and during the third quarter Coach Ritter-Armstrong had seen enough scoring, and had the team work on maintaining possession during the second half.
"We greatly appreciate the alumni coming out tonight and giving our guys a game experience going into the Sierra Nevada game next Saturday. Last year we were not prepared to play that game, and we are hopeful that we will give the Eagles a better run of their money on Saturday."
The Eagles ended last season as the #9 ranked MCLA Division II program in the country, so the Vikings are looking forward to a formidable challenge next Saturday.
