Women's Soccer outscored 7-1 in Big 8 Conference Tournament with losses to ARC and Sac City
Diablo Valley 1, American River 4
Diablo Valley struck first but couldn't hold off a strong second-half surge from host American River, falling 4–1 in a Big 8 Conference matchup on Thursday afternoon.
American River opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Isabella Hardman finished a pass from Hannah Gonzales-Moor to give the Beavers the early edge. The Vikings responded before halftime with excellent combination play, as Miki Miyazaki buried the equalizer in the 38th minute off an assist from Kami Regas. The goal energized Diablo Valley heading into the break, and the teams remained locked at 1–1.
The second half, however, belonged entirely to American River. Gonzales-Moor took over the match, scoring twice—once in the 63rd minute assisted by Grace Vojkufka, and again unassisted in the 74th minute—to extend the Beavers' lead to 3–1. Alicia Rawdon capped the scoring in the 88th minute, converting another assist from Vojkufka.
Despite the final score, Diablo Valley goalkeeper Isabella Hernandez delivered a standout performance, facing heavy pressure and recording six saves. The Vikings were unable to generate shots in the attacking third, while American River capitalized on its chances to secure the win.
Diablo Valley 0, Sacramento City 3
Diablo Valley wrapped up its road trip with a 3–0 setback at Sacramento City on Friday afternoon. Playing on short rest, the Vikings struggled to break through offensively while Sacramento City used early momentum to control the match.
The Panthers struck quickly, taking a 1–0 lead just six minutes in when Ayren Rapp finished a feed from Nataly Barraza. Sacramento City continued to apply pressure, and Barraza doubled the lead in the 35th minute with help from Zayetzy Carrillo-Rendon and Maddy McGough.
Diablo Valley battled through the second half behind another strong effort from goalkeeper Isabella Hernandez, who tallied six saves for the second straight match. However, the Vikings couldn't slow Sacramento City's attack for the full 90 minutes. The Panthers added a third goal in the 68th minute as defender Hilary Murcia scored off a well-placed pass from Barraza, who finished with a goal and two assists.
Although the Vikings defended with determination, they were unable to break through for a shot on goal. Sacramento City's pressure and ball control kept Diablo Valley on its heels throughout the match, handing the Vikings their second loss in as many days.
