Swim competes at Big 8 Invite
Men's Swim Results
The Diablo Valley College men's swim team delivered a strong showing at the Big 8 Invite on March 13 in Sacramento, finishing with 534 team points and several standout performances. Ray Fitch led the Vikings with two event wins, capturing first place in the 100-yard butterfly (51.82) and 50-yard freestyle (21.45). Joe Greer added a runner-up finish in the 100-yard freestyle (48.56) and a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, while Daniel Lewis earned third in the 100-yard IM and third in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Diablo Valley also saw strong performances from Evan Sonoda, who won the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.34), and Isaiah Warner, who placed second in the 200-yard IM. Additional top finishes included Massimo Trento and Apollo Bocalan in the breaststroke events, helping the Vikings accumulate key points throughout the meet. Overall, the team recorded 19 season-best performances and five personal bests as they continue to build momentum during the season.
Women's Swim Results
The Diablo Valley College women's swim team posted a strong performance at the Big 8 Invite on March 13 in Sacramento, finishing with 425 team points and multiple podium finishes. Frida Avalos Paz led the Vikings with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.03) and a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM, while Mia DeLuca captured first place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.25) and added a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Evalinne Vecchio also had an outstanding meet, winning the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.22) and placing second in both the 100-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle. Additional top performances came from Supitcha Phoonpirom, who finished third in the 100-yard IM and fourth in the 200-yard IM, and Brianna Smyth, who earned third-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly. Overall, the Vikings recorded 12 personal bests and 11 season-best swims, highlighting continued progress for the team this season.
