Diablo Valley College men's basketball continued Big 8 Conference play last week, dropping two tight games while moving to 9–14 overall and 4–7 in conference.
January 27 | Sierra 73, DVC 70
The Vikings went toe-to-toe with Sierra at home but came up just short in a three-point finish. DVC trailed by one at halftime (37–36) and matched Sierra score-for-score over the final 20 minutes before the Wolverines held on late. Mozell Wilson led the Vikings with 18 points on efficient shooting, while Brandon Earl added 12 points and 8 rebounds. DVC also got a strong lift from the bench as Carter Smith-Craney knocked down four three-pointers on his way to 12 points, and Adrian Calderon chipped in 8 points. The Vikings hit 10 threes as a team and stayed within striking distance throughout, but Sierra's balanced scoring proved to be the difference.
January 30 | Santa Rosa 63, DVC 57 (OT)
DVC nearly pulled off a statement road win at Santa Rosa—an 18-win team—but fell in overtime after a defensive battle. The Vikings led 25–22 at the half and pushed the game into an extra period, where Santa Rosa outscored DVC 9–3. Lloyd Akudinobi paced the Vikings with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Brandon Earl finished with 11 points and three steals. Dylan Devinney provided a spark off the bench with 8 points and two steals, and DVC's defense forced 14 Santa Rosa turnovers, keeping the contest tight to the finish.
