Football to Host Butte in first ever NCFC Quarterfinal Showdown
Saturday, November 22 | 1 p.m. | Pleasant Hill, CA
The postseason is here, and Diablo Valley College football is ready to make a statement. The Vikings (9-1, 4-1 Bay 6) earned the No. 3 seed in the Northern California Football Conference playoffs and will host No. 6 Butte College (8-2, 4-1 National NorCal) in a highly anticipated quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, November 22nd.
DVC enters the playoffs riding momentum from a dominant regular season that featured explosive offense and a stingy defense, leading them to one of the best records in program history. Head coach, Jimmy collings, has the Vikings primed for their first postseason run under the new six-team playoff format, which gives the top two seeds first-round byes.
Butte, the reigning National NorCal League champion, comes to Pleasant Hill after closing its season strong with back-to-back wins. Known for physical play and a balanced attack, the Roadrunners will test DVC's defensive front early and often.
The winner will advance to face No. 2 seed Modesto (8-2, 5-0 Valley League) in the semifinals on November 29, while No. 1 College of San Mateo (9-1) awaits the other side of the bracket.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Diablo Valley College Stadium.
