Football Ends Historic Season in Semi-Final Loss to Modesto, 35–7
MODESTO, Calif. — November 29, 2025
Diablo Valley College football concluded one of the most successful seasons in program history on Saturday afternoon, falling 35–7 to Modesto Junior College in the Northern California semifinal. The Vikings finish the year 10–2, reaching the state semifinal round for the first time in more than a decade.
After a scoreless opening period, Modesto struck first on a 15-play, 90-yard drive capped by a three-yard touchdown run from Bryson Davis. Just minutes later, Davis broke free for a 77-yard score that quickly pushed the Pirates ahead 14–0.
DVC responded with its best series of the day—a 12-play, 75-yard drive highlighted by sharp passing from quarterback Kalani McLeod and finished by McLeod's one-yard touchdown run, bringing the Vikings within 14–7 with 3:30 left in the half.
Modesto answered before halftime with a nine-yard touchdown pass, taking a 21–7 advantage into the break.
The Vikings' defense tightened in the third quarter, holding Modesto scoreless and forcing multiple punts. Linebacker Santino Acevedo led the unit with 11 tackles and a sack, while Wesley Garton and Marley Alapati added eight tackles apiece.
Despite the defensive surge, long fields and pressure on the quarterbacks made sustained drives difficult as the game wore on. Modesto recorded eight sacks in the contest, limiting DVC's ability to push the ball downfield.
Modesto extended its lead with a fourth-quarter scoring drive to make it 28–7, then capitalized on field position following a turnover to add a final touchdown with 1:13 remaining.
